Yahoo! Messenger 10 is the latest version of the old Yahoo! Pager launched in March 1998. Yahoo Messenger makes chatting with your family members and friends in real time simple and easy. While chatting, you can also make voice and video calls, so that you can watch those at the other end using the webcam support. The instant messaging features are not limited to Yahoo! Users, allowing you to IM users of different platforms, such as Windows Live Messenger, Lotus Sametime, or Reuters Messaging.

There are some pre-configured rooms which you can join to discuss topics of your interest, and to get some help regarding various fields. Besides, with its nice photo sharing feature you can transfer up to 2 GB of files and share them with your contacts. It includes a wide variety of audible emoticons, or “audibles”, that you can use to impress and amuse your friends. You can stay connected by forwarding your IMs to your mobile phone. Yahoo! Messenger will also allow you to import the contacts already stored in some of your e-mail clients, such as Outlook.

When it comes to personalizing your Yahoo! Messenger, it will allow you to place an image or avatar to represent you, select the fonts and colors according to your preferences, and set up themes based on your current mood.
